Discord API changes & breaking changes

Discord publishes an official OpenAPI specification for its HTTP API, in standard and preview flavors. Detektu diffs both so breaking changes and early preview signals reach you before an API version retires.

Change model

How Discord ships changes

The release patterns that shape your integration risk.

Discord versions its HTTP API (v10 today) and retires old versions on a schedule. The officially published OpenAPI spec is explicitly a work in progress, which makes it churn-prone: schema corrections and genuine API changes both show up as diffs.

Detektu tracks the standard and preview contracts as separate channels and classifies changes by severity, so a corrected type annotation reads differently from a removed field on a resource you use.

From change to finding

Findings you'd see

Illustrative examples. Every real finding carries exact before/after evidence, severity, and source provenance.

Breaking

Field removed from the message object

openapi:GET /channels/{channel_id}/messages ::response.200.stickers
Info

New optional field appears in preview first

openapi:POST /channels/{channel_id}/messages ::enforce_nonce

Do Discord's changes affect your integration?

Choose the operations and fields your services use. Detektu matches Discord findings to that declared usage so your team can review the relevant evidence. No agent or repository access required.
